Military Resources
Military OneSource is a free service provided by the Department of Defense to service members and their families to help with a broad range of concerns including money management, spouse employment and education, parenting and child care, relocation, deployment, reunion, and the particular concerns of families with special-needs members. They can also include more complex issues like relationships, stress, and grief. Services are available 24 hours a day — by telephone with professionally trained consultants and online. Many Military OneSource staff members have military experience (veterans, spouses, Guardsmen, Reservists), and all receive ongoing training on military matters and military lifestyle. The program can be especially helpful to service members and their families who live at a distance from installations.

Are they allowed to wear their own jewelry while at tech school?
I want to get Shane this ring that he's always wanted, for christmas, but would he even be able to wear it?

I know tghye arne't allowed to wear piercings, necklaces && braclets. Will is allowed to wear his wedding ring, so I would assume a ring isn't an issue... but that could be just because it's his wedding ring.

I agree
I know they can wear wedding rings.
And Nick is allowed to wear his watch with his ABU's only.

They can ONLY wear wedding rings during basic. And SOME tech schools don't allow it. My friends husband is a crew chief and can't even wear his to work. So it depends how hands on the school is. I know even with SF tech schools they weren't letting them wear it anymore.

Also, I wouldn't send it to him until graduation or tech school because he could get in trouble receiving something like that in the mail :/

He'd be allowed to wear it with his civilian clothing on weekends and after school during phase 2 and 3.

oh! one other quick question..

In which week did your Airman finally get to call and talk to ya?
I don't mean the first address call. The first NORMAL (or as normal as it gets) call?
I know it all depends on how they are doing and their T.I.
Just wanna be able to know when to expect it at least.

i think its varies between 2-4th week of them in but like you said it all depends on the TI and if they are doing what they are suppose to be doing to earn phone calls or writing time

That's right!

If he has a bunch of stupid kids on his flight you might not get phone calls. :/

I got my first call the middle of week 2 on Thanksgiving! And I got my first letter today, his first day of week 3! But the letter is dated the 25th, so he got calling and writing privileges the same day. =]

From what I can tell from other girls I know whose boyfried or hubby already went thru bmt, they typically get their first phone call after week 2. I got one every Sunday, always between the times of 12:00 PM-7:30PM.
I got a phone call every Sunday after week 2, but that's considerd A LOT because most only get a handful of calls.

That's what i'm afraid of. His mom called me today and said that they tried calling down there to get the address but the guy said Shane is still not in the system, along with a bunch of other trainees? And then the guy said how he can't believe Shane didn't get to call yet.. So that worries me that maybe his flight isn't doing so good or he has just a strict T.I? Or maybe it's still early seeing as how he just left last tuesday? ahhh it's killing me. Cry

Well, he got there during a week where a holiday was going on, so things might be going a bit slow.
And not every trainee with get to call home to give the address. I've heard of some not getting the addy call at all, so they had to call up there to get it.
Just keep yourself hopefull and try calling up there every few days or so for the addy.
:)

I know for sure Shane will be in the system by next Monday. When I called for Tyler's, the guy told me that it takes a week to get the trainees into the system because there's just so many. I know how you're feeling though, hun. If you ever need to talk, I'm here! Hand Shake
