Military Resources
Military OneSource is a free service provided by the Department of Defense to service members and their families to help with a broad range of concerns including money management, spouse employment and education, parenting and child care, relocation, deployment, reunion, and the particular concerns of families with special-needs members. They can also include more complex issues like relationships, stress, and grief. Services are available 24 hours a day — by telephone with professionally trained consultants and online. Many Military OneSource staff members have military experience (veterans, spouses, Guardsmen, Reservists), and all receive ongoing training on military matters and military lifestyle. The program can be especially helpful to service members and their families who live at a distance from installations.

Okay, so Nick went to BMT Open General. It means that he hasn't actually been assigned a job yet, but will once he graduates.

At first, his first two jobs were UAV Pilot Sensor Operator and ATC (Air Traffic Control). Last week when he called, he said that UAV Sensor wasn't available, so he had to put down 8 other jobs or list Security Forces, and he doesn't want SF.
He said he put ATC and Loadmaster as his top two.

What does Loadmaster do?? I can't find the job description anywhere!

Caitlin's boyfriend Tyler is going to be a Loadmaster I'm pretty sure! I'll let her explain it though so I don't butcher the description and tell you anything wrong! lol :)

Yes, Tyler is going to be a Loadmaster. Basically, the Loadmasters are the ones in charge of everything that gets put on the planes. They organize all the supplies in the plane and make sure it's balanced by using mathematical equations. They are part of the flight team, so they do travel with the plane and all of the supplies. They have what they call "missions," where they're gone for about 15 days delivering supplies all over the world and then they come back and have approximately 5 days off. (This is what we were told by another Loadmaster couple stationed at McChord. However, every AFB is different. I have heard of Loadmasters that get more time off than just 5 days. But I'm pretty sure at the minimum, they get 5 days between missions.) They do deploy and deployments are 4 months long. Again, from the couple at McChord, we've heard that they deploy in rotations. At McChord, they have 4 groups that deploy for 4 months each. So they will probably deploy every year or every year and 4 months, depending on the rotation schedule. But again, keep in mind that every AFB is slightly different!

I hope I was able to help some! If you have any more questions, feel free to ask me!

thanks!
I'm really hoping he gets ATC or Loadmaster!

So, if he does get deployed, it would only be for 4 months out of a year?
Oh, and do you happen to know where tech school is for Loadmaster?

Correct. He would be gone 4 months out of the year if he does get deployed.

And I believe they kind of travel for tech school. That's the way Tyler made it seem, anyway. I believe he'll be in Texas, Florida and Washington. I guess part of their training is parachuting out of a plane. Tyler will crap himself. =P

I do know that tech school isn't long for Loadmasters. Tyler told me he'd be done with it in 2 months or less, thank the Lord! The sooner he's done with tech school, the sooner I can figure out what school I'll be transferring to. =]
